Life Isn't Fair

Life isn't fair.  That's something that any of us that are adults already know.  The problem is that liberals especially prey on the desire all of us have for fairness.  Is it fair that a hard-working man and woman can barely afford the nice things in life?  That sometimes they can barely afford to keep gas in the tank and food on the table?  Is it fair that a rich man that didn't work for his riches can waste more money in a day than most of us will see in a year?  Is it fair that no matter what our medical system now or in the future the rich will always be able to get better?  Obviously the answer to all of these are no.  But that doesn't mean anybody owes anybody anything or that anybody did anything wrong.  The following is a poem, of sorts or a set of maxims that I would like you to read and think about.

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot lift the wage-earner by pulling down the wage-payer.
You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich.
You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.
From the Ten Cannots by The Reverend William John Henry Boetcker

As always, if you like what you read I would appreciate you clicking on an ad (it doesn't mean you have to buy anything.)  I'm currently unemployed and a single dad, and any money I can make on this blog is a good thing.  Thanks so much for reading.

  1. It kills me when people "ride the system" and I work my but off so they can "live" off welfare. Instead of a hand up they abuse the system making it a stigma of shame as opposed to what it was desinged for.
